SOA in London, 29-30 April 2009

SOA will feature strongly in The Open Group conferences in London in April 2009, which will include:

Win a copy of the SOA Source Book!
If you submit a question to one of the panels of experts for the open meeting, you will be included in a prize draw, with a chance of winning a copy of the Source Book worth EURO 29.95 (USD 40).

Monday, April 27

14:00-17:30

An SOA Working Group Members Meeting will discuss:

  • The Working Group's Roadmap and Strategy
  • Liaisons with Other Bodies
  • The SOA content of TOGAF-9

The meeting will include a joint session with the Architecture Forum.

Tuesday, April 28

09:00-17:30

An SOA Reference Architecture Project Meeting will discuss:

  • The Reference Architecture review draft

The project team plans to create a draft of the Reference Architecture for wider review within the SOA Working Group, and ultimately for Open Group Company Review prior to publication. The discussion will mainly focus on developing the draft, but will also include review planning.

 

Wednesday, April 29

09:00-12:30

The SOA Conference Stream, including:

  • The launch of the SOA Source Book
  • Presentations including case studies and advice on SOA deployment.
14:00-17:30

The Cloud Computing Conference Stream, including:

  • A presentation on service-oriented infrastructure to support cloud computing
  • Presentations on cloud computing architecture.

Thursday, April 30

11:00-12:30

The SOA Conference Stream, including:

  • Presentations on SOA-ML and on key challenges for EA and enterprise-wide adoption of SOA.
14:00-16:00

Open meeting on Architecting SOA, including a review of SOA events at the conference, two panels of experts discussing questions submitted, and the Source Book prize draw.

  • 14:00 - Welcome and introductions
  • 14:05 - What happened in London - review of SOA events at the conference
  • 14:15 - Panel discussion - the State and Direction of SOA
    The panel is moderated by Heather Kreger of IBM and includes speakers Tarmo Ploom, Mark Burnham, and Ahmed Fattah, plus Christian Schroeder, a SOA expert from Detecon.
  • 15:00 - Architecting SOA with the SOA Source Book
  • 15:10 - Panel discussion - Architecting SOA
    The panel is moderated by Open Group forum director Chris Harding, and includes Awel Dico (Bank of Montreal and co-chair of the SOA/TOGAF Practical Guide project), Nikhil Kumar (ApTSi and co-chair of the SOA Reference Architecture project), and Don Kavanagh (Capita IT Services)
  • 15:50 - Source Book Prize Draw.
