The Open Group’s Approach to Certification
The Open Group’s approach is Making standards work®. The organization has extensive experience and a long track record in defining and evolving standards, building consensus, and developing best practices as well as operating certification programs and providing certification services to other consortia. The Open Group ensures that its certification programs are based on industry best practices and clear and well-defined certification policy and processes for achieving and maintaining certification.

IT Architect Certification
The Open Group's IT Architect Certification program is the premier, global certification program for certifying skills and experience in the IT architecture community. Based on the proven best practices in the industry, it sets an independent, industry-wide standard for IT Architects and creates a foundation for trust between suppliers and customers.

COE Platform
The Common Operating Environment (COE) Platform certification covers UNIX®, POSIX® and Linux® based systems. The program was launched in response to the DISA decision to transition DII COE certification to the industry.

The Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA® 2.3) certification program assures compliance with specifications developed by Object Management Group (OMG) for object technology use, management, interworking, and interoperability.

POSIX® Certified by IEEE and The Open Group certifies products to the 2003 edition of IEEE 1003.1™-2001, “Standard for Information Technology ­ Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX),” which incorporates the IEEE 1003.1 Corrigendum. The POSIX® standard defines a set of fundamental services needed for the construction of portable application programs.

The Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) Certification Program was developed and is operated by The Open Group on behalf of the Schools Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA). It focuses on educational software applications and validates conformance to the SIF Specification.
