Systems Management: Reference Model
This guide is one of several documents within The Open Group Systems Management program, the primary aim of which is to promote development of management software that allows an administrator of a distributed system to manage a network of heterogeneous systems as a single logical system. This guide provides an architectural overview of the Systems Management model, and identifies the various components of the model. It employs object-oriented techniques. This is a high-level model which encompasses both OMG-compliant object-oriented technology and the OSI Network Management standards. It discusses the general properties of their interfaces and their means of interaction, and indicates an approach for coexistence of both models.
